Purpose Before Promotion

One verse that stayed with me this week was Isaiah 60:1: "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you."

As I studied this chapter, I kept coming back to the idea of restoration and hope. It reminded me that God doesn't simply call us into something new. He prepares us for it first. I've seen this unfold in my life through Purpose Marketing. Launching my consulting business didn't feel forced or out of reach - it felt natural. The strategy, planning, and even building a client base all came together because they were gifts God had already been developing in me throughout my career.

That's what made me pause. Sometimes we think purpose arrives through one big breakthrough, when in reality it's often built through everyday obedience. It's choosing to keep learning, to remain faithful where you are, and to use the gifts God has already placed in your hands. Then one day, you look back and realize He was preparing you all along. It's also why the name Purpose Marketing felt so fitting. "Nia" means purpose, and Finding My Nia has always been about discovering the life God is calling me to live. This business feels like an extension of that journey. Not because I've finally "made it," but because I'm continuing to walk in what He's entrusted to me.

I still work in corporate marketing, and I genuinely enjoy it. But having something that's my own has reminded me that purpose isn't always found by changing everything. Sometimes it's found by faithfully stewarding what God has already given you. Isaiah 60 begins with an invitation to "arise" before it speaks about the light. Maybe that's because faith often asks us to move before we see the full picture. I'm learning that purpose isn't something we wait to discover someday. More often, it's something we uncover through obedience, one faithful step at a time.
