I have so many enemies, LORD, so many who turn against me! They talk about me and say, “God will not help him.” But you, O LORD, are always my shield from danger; you give me victory and restore my courage. I call to the LORD for help, and from his sacred hill he answers me. I lie down and sleep, and all night long the LORD protects me. I am not afraid of the thousands of enemies who surround me on every side. Come, LORD! Save me, my God! You punish all my enemies and leave them powerless to harm me. Victory comes from the LORD — may he bless his people. – Psalms 3:1-8
This is a “Morning Prayer for Help”. It is a Psalm by David after he ran away from his son Absalom. David felt the world was against him and felt alone. In lines 1 and 2, he is crying of distress. 3 and 4, he is having hope. 5 and 6, he has courage in the face of distress, 7 and 8 is a prayer of deliverance. A lot of us can relate to David. We may feel alone like no one has our best interest at heart, or feel discouraged. Sometimes we have sleepless night after having a bad day or thinking about decisions we’ve made or what people may have done to us. We have times where we have to deal with people who don’t have the same heart as we do; they are just cut from a different cloth. In following God and saying this prayer, it will help you have faith and move forward along your path. Let your enemies be and let God handle them, for they can only hinder you from your true destiny. And you can only move forward trusting in the Lord.
