Sunday Reflection

Get rid of all bitterness, passion, and anger. No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort. Instead, be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ.

– Ephesians 4:31-32

An angry person is a hurt person. We are angry because we don’t get what we want or something has been taken. Our first instinct is that a debt to the relationship has now been established because we feel that we are owed something. Until the debt is paid we hold on to the hurt. When this happens, we have to ask ourselves how long do we plan on holding on to the hurt? How long are we going to allow people who caused the hurt to control our life? Quit holding on to what’s in the past because what’s been done can’t be undone. Letting the past control your future holds you back. I know it’s hard to forgive but the longer you wait for that debt to be paid, you will be the one who pays.
