You Good?

ree

From March to now, some of our lives have been flipped upside down. From a pandemic that took millions of lives and jobs to a movement about racial injustices in America. We all know that the new “normal” is approaching. How do you feel about what’s to come? Are you more motivated than ever? Or are you worried. Is your mental health at risk or are you mentally stronger?

Many have started businesses; grinded harder, worked on their mental health and even took this time to relax. Others have gotten lazy and felt stuck on what they want to do next, which affects them internally. Some of the time it doesn’t take surroundings or drastic changes for someone to act or see things differently. It may just take a “you good?” Those words right there can make a person think internally on what they are doing with their lives. Some people might say “yea they’re good’ because they may not want to talk about it or don’t know where to start. For myself I think about what’s next for me, am I good where I’m at in life right now, and has my mental health gotten better?

During these few months I’ve been working on what’s next for my poetry and career. I’ve been making sure I tell the ones close to me what’s wrong, making sure I stay focused and consistent with working on my craft. I feel mentally and physically stronger than ever. I’ve also had some people check in which also motivated me more. Take sometime out of your day and ask yourself if you’re good. Make sure you’re doing what it takes to be successful in life or whatever it means to you. Ask the people you care about as well. Maybe you will be the motivation they need.
