Love From a Distance

ree

To love someone from a distance is to still care about someone that isn’t good for your mental space.  It’s like wanting the best for someone who is somewhat toxic but not allowing them to affect what you have going on in your life.  From personal experience, I have a family member that I can’t have a deep relationship with and it sucks to be quite honest.  But it is what it is, and the reason for it is that they can’t be honest with themselves or me with past issues.  So it’s better for us to have a surface relationship.  I still want them to be apart of my life in spite of the issues because I love them but its better and healthier for me that it’s from a distance.  A lot of people have situations like this with either friends or family and hope the situation changes so they can be closer.  You have to accept people as they are and understand that the limitations of the relationship are reflective of who they are.

A part of self care means cleaning house and purging your life of toxic unhealthy people.  What we can do is pray for them and wish them well.  Never let a toxic person take you out of character or put you in a negative place that isn’t good for your mental or physical health.  Just love them from a distance and lead with love.
