Emotional Exhaustion

The only one you truly answer to is your maker. I remind myself of this whenever life’s tests come my way. No matter what we face, God is the ultimate source of strength and understanding. Yet, I often get caught up in the moment, wrapped in my emotions, and forget the teachings that ground me. I’ve noticed that during these times, I start looking to others or external things for validation instead of drawing on God’s limitless power. This approach leaves me drained. It’s not just being sensitive—it’s pouring energy into everything but myself, until there’s nothing left. The cycle repeats because I’m relying on people, who are limited, instead of God, who is infinite.
Leaning on ourselves or others is natural but can be misleading. The Bible warns us that self-reliance leads to frustration and emptiness. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Trying to face challenges alone often means missing out on deeper growth that God wants for us.
Depending only on ourselves makes us feel isolated and exhausted. We end up trying to control outcomes that are out of our hands, which can feel meaningless. Breaking this draining cycle means learning to truly depend on God. Jeremiah 17:7-8 gives us a powerful visual: “Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD… They are like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots to the stream.” When we draw strength from Him, we can stay resilient no matter what life throws at us.
