Sunday Reflection

Some friendships do not last, but some friends are more loyal than brothers.

  • Proverbs 18:24

Loyalty is everything to me and I know we expect our friends and family to feel the same but in some cases they do not feel the same way or do not have a loyal bone in their body. There are many people who say they are “loyal” but have no idea what the word entails. The word isn’t even a reality in their lives. When I started my blog, I was speaking to friends about it that I thought supported me. I asked them to subscribe to my blog and share it for me to get the word out. Some did and others didn’t. I was kind of shocked because some of these people acted like they were rooting for me. It did hurt me for a while because I couldn’t understand why when support is free. It’s because they didn’t believe in me. There are also those fake friends who stay around for a while to see if it’s something that will benefit them. They just want to see you fail and hate on you behind their smiles. The friends that do support me I appreciate them because they believe in my vision and me, just as I believe in and would support them in their endeavors.

I could tell God had something bigger planned for me and he knew who wasn’t going to be apart of that. Support, trust, commitment and dependability is all apart of loyalty, and if you don’t have those intentions with someone then you aren’t being loyal to them. Ultimately starting my blog was a test for those who really weren’t down for me and it showed. Be careful who you let in because not everyone has your back and will switch on you when it isn’t beneficial to them or their agenda. Stay loyal to God and the ones that matter.
