"Stay Sweet"

Updated: Apr 27, 2020

I recently went to visit my family in North Carolina. It was my grandmother’s and my aunt (her twin) birthday. Seeing my grandmother age and go through Dementia is hard for me. Knowing that she doesn’t remember a lot and is always forgetting where she put her keys or even repeating the same story within a few minutes is something I’m getting use to. My grandmother was the type to be on point and never missed a beat. She is straight up and takes no mess but a very kind woman. She is someone that I look up to and confide in to receive the best advice. Also she never fails to let me know how much she loves me and how proud she is of me. Hearing her always say those words touch my heart every time. Realizing how precious life is, we have to make every moment and every day count. Make sure you let the people around know how you truly feel. Whether you tell them how much you love them or how they hurt you. Don’t keep your feelings inside. You can build on relationships or end them and truly start growing into the person you are without you feeling like something is holding you back. My grandma always tells me to stay sweet. By that she means remain kind and don’t let anyone make you bitter.

On that note we should try to “stay sweet” 💕
