Covered & Called: A Reflection on Submissive Love

In a world where independence is often seen as the ultimate badge of honor, I’ve found myself desiring something countercultural: a life where I am a kept woman. Not in the way the world defines it, but in the way God designed it. A woman who is covered, protected, cherished, and lovingly led by a man who honors the Lord.
I dream of a life where I can thrive in purpose, career, and creativity - and still come home and take my rightful place beside a man I trust with my whole heart. I want to honor my future husband by submitting to his leadership. Not from a place of weakness, but from strength. Not because I am less, but because I know Who leads him: Christ.
Submission is not silence.
It is not slavery.
It is not shrinking.
It’s a decision to follow the man God assigns to me. To trust him when the road is unclear, to seek his covering when opportunity knocks, and to respect his vision as we build a life together.
A kept woman isn’t passive - she’s powerful. She moves with grace and intention. Her influence runs deep. She doesn't have to compete to be heard, because she knows her voice holds weight. She doesn't lead by force, but by wisdom and presence. This type of love isn’t outdated - it’s divine. It reflects the relationship between Christ and the Church: built on love, sacrifice, protection, and mutual honor.
I’m not just preparing to be loved - I’m preparing to be led. To be part of something holy, not just happy. And when that time comes, I want to be ready. Ready to pour out, partner well, and walk confidently in the role God has called me to.
To some, that may sound old-fashioned. But to me? That sounds like peace.
